We Love Monte Pego

Monte Pego provides a perfect blend of tranquility and accessibility, conveniently located between Valencia and Alicante airports.

More about Monte Pego

Monte Pego is an upscale urbanization located between Valencia and Alicante, opposite the Mediterranean island of Ibiza, and is considered one of the most beautiful and exclusive residential areas on the Costa Blanca. It is easily accessible, with both Alicante and Valencia airports 90 km away. The area is close to Denia, the capital of the Marina Alta region.

Founded in the 1970s, Monte Pego is a cosmopolitan, Mediterranean residential district with a well-developed infrastructure. Monte Pego provides various sports activities such as tennis, cycling, and hiking. Nearby, there are opportunities for horse riding, golf, surfing, kite surfing, sailing, sea kayaking, diving, deep sea fishing, and wakeboarding.

The climate in the Costa Blanca region is especially beneficial for individuals with heart, lung, and rheumatism issues, attributed in part to the magnesium-rich Montgo mountain. Known as the “Florida of Spain,” the area, including Denia, is recognized by the World Health Organization for having one of the best climates globally. It is warm throughout the year, but summer temperatures are not oppressive due to a consistent light breeze. The combination of mountains with natural water sources, salty sea air, and abundant sunshine creates a unique climate. This results in pleasant conditions, with summers that are not too hot and winters that are not too cold. The average temperature is 19 degrees Celsius, providing a climate that is simply perfect for well-being.

Culture of Costa Blanca

The culture of the Costa Blanca is vibrant and festive, with numerous “fiestas” occurring throughout the year. These celebrations are integral to Spanish life, often having religious or secular roots, such as honoring patron saints, celebrating carnivals, or reenacting historical events like the expulsion of the Moors. The fiestas are characterized by music, dance, and culinary delights, making each one a unique and worthwhile experience.

Key fiestas include:

1. Fallas: Held from March 15th to 19th in Valencia and other locations, featuring massive sculptures made of flammable materials that are ceremoniously burned on the festival’s final day.

2. Moros y Cristianos: Celebrated between May and September in the Comunidad Alicante/Valencia, these fiestas dramatize the historical battles between Moors and Christians with parades, medieval music, and mock battles.

3. La Tomatina: A unique event in Buñol near Valencia on the last Wednesday of August, where participants engage in a massive tomato fight, throwing around 100,000 tons of tomatoes in a fun and peaceful battle.

These fiestas are not only cultural highlights but also attract tourists from around the world, offering a rich tapestry of traditions and community spirit.

Diverse and Captivating Landscape

Casa Dalí, situated in the picturesque Monte Pego, offers guests not only luxurious accommodation but also the opportunity to explore the rich natural beauty of Dénia and the broader Valencia region. This area is renowned for its diverse landscapes, combining the allure of pristine coastlines with the majesty of inland hills and nature reserves.

Coastal Wonders

The coastal area of Dénia is famed for its stunning beaches and secluded coves, each offering unique experiences. From the lively shores of Playa de las Marinas to the serene seclusion of Cala del Trampolí, visitors can indulge in the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean. These beaches provide a perfect setting for sunbathing, swimming, and various water sports, making them an ideal escape for beach lovers.

Inland Beauty

Inland, the Valencia region reveals a tapestry of rolling hills, expansive vineyards, and aromatic orange groves. This picturesque scenery is not only visually captivating but also contributes to the region’s agricultural richness. The fertile plains surrounding Dénia are dotted with citrus fruits and grapes, nurtured by a unique microclimate created by the Montgó Massif.

Natural Parks and Biodiversity

The Montgó Natural Park is a highlight for nature enthusiasts, offering a sanctuary for a wide range of plant and animal species. The imposing Montgó mountain stands as a prominent backdrop, providing scenic hiking trails and panoramic views of the surrounding areas. Rich in biodiversity, the park is a haven for hikers and those seeking a closer connection with nature.

Birdwatching and Marine Life

For birdwatching enthusiasts, the Albufera Natural Park, with its freshwater lagoon, serves as a thriving habitat for diverse wildlife. Meanwhile, the Marine Reserve of Cabo de San Antonio at Dénia’s northern tip offers a sanctuary for marine life, inviting underwater exploration and appreciation of the Mediterranean’s aquatic wonders.

Picturesque Walks and Microclimates

The coastal walks in Les Marines and Les Rotes present picturesque routes along rocky coastlines and natural rock formations. Les Rotes, in particular, is celebrated for its stunning scenery and small coves. The protective Montgó Massif creates a favorable microclimate in this region, enhancing the area’s natural beauty and agricultural success.

In essence, the natural surroundings of Casa Dalí and the broader Dénia area offer a harmonious blend of coastal beauty, mountainous terrain, and fertile landscapes. This diverse environment invites exploration and appreciation, making it a dream destination for nature enthusiasts and those seeking tranquility amid stunning scenery.
